Make Me Country

Make Me Country

A Poem by Olive Belikov

sittin in the cab of that big red truck
rust on the doors, dust on the dashboard
not a seatbelt in sight, just and overhead light
baby, oh baby, if you kissed me here
you could make me country

there’s dirt on your jeans
hay in your hair.
i think back two minutes and i'm there again
layin in the grass, barefoot with cut offs
baby, oh baby, if you kissed me there
you could make me country

Chorus: I’d give up everything
all the high heeled shoes and high sky rooms
I’d leave that city of lights
replace them all with stars and long nights
spent dancing in this wide open space.
Baby for you, just for you,
I would turn country

Now daddy raised me up
with money in my pocket
never saw a car without an engine rocket
Not until that day in your big red truck
when we drove out there and parked in dark

Oh baby I love you, baby I know
Your my country boy who doesn’t drive slow
on those gravel roads past the dead end signs
You'
re the only one in this big old world
who could make me country

Chorus...

Let down my hair, take off my shoes

run with you to the trout stream shore

past the big green tractors and the tall oak trees

We'll lay in the hay and listen to that country music

I'll always remeber you, my country boy

who made me country

Chorus...

baby, oh baby, kiss me here

kiss me here and i'll never leave

i'm your country girl with my feet bare

we'll live forever in that big red truck

baby im your country girl.

I love it. I've grown up a southern boy for almost ten years now and will be heading back to California in a month so it was sort of special reading this. The stuff I never thought much about is now on my mind and I think a bit of that country spirit is pictured here in a beautiful way. And I love the line about the seat belts. Great write! =)

This was really nice, i liked it a lot :) I knew a country girl once. Very beautiful. 'Tis just a shame she ran off with another man, tho. Broke my heart ='/ But, not to worry. Many fish in the sea, if ya got the right bait, heh =/ But, like i always say, I'm a city boy by mind, but a country boy by heart haha ;) Nice job :)

A very enjoyable read. I like the way it flows. A little country... and that's not a bad flavor to have.
Keep writing. This one was fun.

(Oh, about your mom's computer... ask her which friend of her's is leaving their husband. That will open dialogue.)

I love this, and even though I don't know the tune, I would totally listen to it.
