Shadow

Shadow

A Poem by Olive Belikov

Would anybody miss me
if I jumped?
if I pulled the trigger?
Would people cry
or would it go unnoticed?
My whole life I've been a shadow
lurking in the corners.
When the light goes out
Is there still a shadow
or complete darkness?
If I jumped,
if I pulled the trigger,
Would I be the Angel of Death
or just another shadow
lost in the dark?

'A shadow lost in the dark'. That was really a very beautifully tragic line. A great way to end it. I didn't feel like this was the run-of-the-mill suicide poem. It seemed to have a sort of depth to it. It was quite thought provoking. You did a really amazing job.

There's always light at the end of the tunnel...even if the sun is not shining, the clouds will part soon.

well, in order for death to make a difference, first of all it must come unselfprovoked :). and in order for life to make a difference, it must be first of all self-treasured. so you tell me - where's the light generating the shadow? :)
