The Dead and Dieing

The Dead and Dieing

A Poem by Jenny Perez

Booze!

Alcohol!

Inebriation!

Everyone wants it,

Everyone seems to need it,

No one truly loves it,

We seem to thrive on it.

Transients,

Trogs,

Winos,

These are the scums of the,

Earth,

Water,

Wheat,

This is the recipe for,

Death,

Rot,

Graves,

What it really leads to,

Is a slow and painful death.

Ghosts,

Aliens,

Hallucinations,

These are what is seen.

Words spoken,

Promises broken,

Certain death,

Rotting from the,

Inside out.

Worms make their homes inside,

Your carcass,

Decaying flesh,

Rancid breath.

Cirrhosis of the liver,

Cancer by smoke would be a,

Godsend,

Heaven,

Hell,

Where do you go after a,

Man-made suicide?

Not heaven,

Not hell,

Limbo,

Purgatory is your new kingdom.

Never to be at peace,

Your thirst never to,

Be quenched,

Always craving,

Yearning for more,

Beer,

Wine,

The last call before all,

Close Down!
