Interlude, Delilah

Interlude, Delilah

A Chapter by Carter Meyer
"

Her name is like her lips.

"

The first kiss
I ever felt
came from Dee

She floated like rainbows and tasted

Like coffee on a Monday morning

Dee talked big words
sang along to the radio
danced whenever she could dance

Dee wasn’t even her name. That’s just
what everybody called her.

The first time I kissed her was like hearing my favorite song
at a party and she moved against me
like winds move waves;

her skin, terracotta. Her eyes, coffee brown.
Hair short and ragged. (That’s the way I liked it.)

She was a rainstorm with lightning on the side
thunderclouds looming

and Dee’s lips -
full and shining

were vibrant against my alabaster skin.

And these days I can’t drink coffee
without thinking of her smile.

That kiss shared between you two sounds amazing.. "like winds move waves" What exactly was her name? Her tasting like coffee on a monday morning stood out to me. There is a difference between a vanilla latte and just plain black coffee. lol Which one was she?

Very creative writing style. Quite poetic and beautiful. I like the comparisons between the MC and Dee: terra cotta and alabaster.

Definitely my favorite part! That's totally me ;) I liked this a lot! You just keep them coming and I'll keep on liking them. I'm not a poet myself, but I enjoy reading it and I love a good one that clicks with me. This one most definitely did. WELL DONE!
