December IIIA Chapter by Carter MeyerForgive me, first love.I sat on the dark green grass outside the rehab center, my light, layered skirt stiff with dried speckled mud; my pale cheeks rosy, the curls of my hair tangled in humidity and pulled together in a loose messy bun. She came to me. She was like a warrior from the far-off rainforests; strong and proud. It was so hard for my mind to take in her beauty, her strength, her even, melodic breathing, but I did. In my mind, I know we all need this. The glimmer from the tress upon which the sun exhaled flowed onto her black hair. An adventure. I turned to look at her. "I.." words croaked from the depth of my being. She shook her head, closed her eyes, and smiled. "don't talk." She whispered. She kissed me. © 2011 Carter Meyer |
