The Shoe!

The Shoe!

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

This is the response to a challenge laid down by none other than my dear sweet friend Muse - I do hope I didn't dissapoint!

"

This blasted tyrant with corest holds,

A memory longs for times of old,

When feet were fit for the sofest ground,

Dear women thread without a sound.

Animals hide does sheath the rough soles,

Merry men wash dirt into hollow bowls,

Pesky pins never far from needle friends,

Arch's soften to house slight softened bends.

Jimmy Choo works more and more fast,

Within leather moulds the jail is cast,

High heels for some and flat for few,

Damn the dreaded bright leather shoe!

Muse, you got some abstract challenges, and your picture is the coolest glitter I think I've ever seen XD And the poem, Thomas, was entertainment and brought about some ideas. Definantly an in depth outlook upon the dreaded bright leather shoe ;) XD Really well written with a fast paced flow, I enjoyed reading, thanx for writing ^.^

This struck me as funny, speaking about the shoe-making process and commenting on the uncomfortable end result. We're slaves to fashion, forced to endure nylons, ties and other accoutrements and apparel. I would prefer the ancient robes and sandals.

You took the challenge, and preformed beautifully! No Jimmy Choo's for me, I'm too old for prison.

Good to get out of the comfort zone. Muse on a shoe. If the muse fits wear it. Fits well. I see images of medieval leather smiths making long Elizabethan boots with winkel long picker toes toffing around and playing footsie under the feasting table and I feel the morph into the modern shoe. But theres that still the same feeling of suffering for fashion in modern high heels as back in the Elizabethan days when they suffered various kinds of body binding for the sake of a beauty standard. Interesting read.

Always a pleasure to read your poetry. I enjoyed the poem. Many thoughts and visions create by the strong statements.
"When feet were fit for the sofest ground,
Dear women thread without a sound."
A nice ending to a outstanding poem.
