Same Time Blind King.

Same Time Blind King.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A study of my thoughts about the Tudors.

"

Sense lays heavy with rounded hooks on one’s mind,

A kiss once daring now lost to a king of church,

Makers now drift past peasants that know no better,

Easy to take steps to death away from his perch.

Taking prayers in darkened rooms might give impression,

Intimate meetings discovered but never given light,

Mighty words from w****s that seek to please cause,

Empires marked fiercely with Henry's sheer bite.

Better walks I've had for now they want me bound,

Letters written fall into the heat of open fires,

In each of us are friends that will turn our backs,

No thoughts, I search for wet wood,

Die they scream and chant more men to the racks.

Kind fellows never found against cowards of jewels,

Inspections are rarity never sought for those needing,

Never lay down with men that fear the ample breast,

Gone on the block, I say, Same Time Blind King.

What little knowledge I had of the Tudors was a long time ago, and not something I remember much of. As usual your use of the English language is is beyond mine, and your hidden messages too tangled for this old brain. Wish I had half of your intelligence, Thomas.

you are far to modest, I've read your work and mine doesn't even compare, thank you my darling.

I, too, am not familiar with the history of the Tudors, but your writing certainly peaks my interest in the subject. That alone makes this piece a jewel.

Your word choice and vocabulary is excellent. Grammatically speaking, the first word of every line should not be capitalized unless it starts a new sentence. I know the old school and classical poets did so, but it is grammatically incorrect. However, that is just my stated opinion, some still prefer to write like that. For me though it causes a break in flow from line to line as I read each line with a full stop and there's no flow through to the next line. Your use of metaphor is very well done. I'm impressed by your use of sensory cues. Though the content is a bit lost on me not being familiar with the Tudors I still enjoyed the poem if for nothing more than the use of metaphor and word choice.

I encourage you to keep writing to read and comment.

Blessings, Tammy

I think with the Tudors it is that sense of life and death, life taken away, horrific really. i thought you captured this very well in your poem. i very much enjoyed this, some lovely expression :))

Amazing imagery but I see the past blending with the present..History has a way of repeating itself and we are now in the times of Big Brother..not very different then the Tudors "Intimate meetings discovered but never given light,
Mighty words from w****s that seek to please " Seems like current election promises to me but that is just my opinion...speaking honestly and giving thought to the title of the work
