Same Time Blind King.

Same Time Blind King.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A study of my thoughts about the Tudors.

"

Sense lays heavy with rounded hooks on one’s mind,

A kiss once daring now lost to a king of church,

Makers now drift past peasants that know no better,

Easy to take steps to death away from his perch.

Taking prayers in darkened rooms might give impression,

Intimate meetings discovered but never given light,

Mighty words from w****s that seek to please cause,

Empires marked fiercely with Henry's sheer bite.

Better walks I've had for now they want me bound,

Letters written fall into the heat of open fires,

In each of us are friends that will turn our backs,

No thoughts, I search for wet wood,

Die they scream and chant more men to the racks.

Kind fellows never found against cowards of jewels,

Inspections are rarity never sought for those needing,

Never lay down with men that fear the ample breast,

Gone on the block, I say, Same Time Blind King.

What little knowledge I had of the Tudors was a long time ago, and not something I remember much of. As usual your use of the English language is is beyond mine, and your hidden messages too tangled for this old brain. Wish I had half of your intelligence, Thomas.

This is an amazing poem, and your professional style of writing is recognizable. I don't know much about the Tudors, so the theme was rather interesting for me to explore. Well done.

"No thoughts, I search for wet wood,

I had to read a few times. I like the ending a lot.
'Never lay down with men that fear the ample breast,
Gone on the block, I say, Same Time Blind King."
Thank you for the outstanding poetry.

I think this is a fine poem, I admire poets who work so well, as you do, with rhymes.
Just two small points, the third verse breaks the ABCB form of the first two verses and is longer, and I missed the rhymes in the fourth verse. But these are just things that can be worked at, and it will be worth it, as you have written this very well.
