Sleep!

Sleep!

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A new side to this writer! x

"

Sharp and burned and image is set,

Fear and coiled a sickening scream,

Torn and wrenched from Mother's womb,

Frail and flawed a clear bright beam.

Caught between a solid and air,

Looking forward through time and light,

Feeling and thoughts covered with loss,

Snapped and focused with one close sight.

Questions now answered for you free,

A sleeping future now avails,

Some tired of breezes clenching teeth,

Sound of souls rested for now pre-vails.

The first stanza made me think of difficult birth, as if it were surgical, a C-section, but birth none the less. The second stanza made me think about life or being alive but being stuck in a kind of stasis between that and a death-like a photograph. The third stanza made me think of death and the fact that nothing matters in the end because you have found rest. Overall, may I use this word? Epic.

I have a poem called go to sleep about a infant sacrifice.this poem reminded me of my poem.I think we write alot alike sometimes.
I felt like there was a sacrifice of the infant so that the mother may gain infinite knowledge. She soon finds the knowledge she seeks is not as great as what she would have received from the infant

W-O-W. I know maybe it was the way you read it but, the words just popped out and spoke. It was almost like statemets as you read each stanza. The verses aren't simple either they have suchintensifying meaning behind as i their shouting (never use that expression before). Anyways well done (clapping)

Hm, can see the depression and yet the twisted and d fascinated side clearly. It started out making the viewer want to squirm and then it turned to grip them by the throat. Really cut into me. Nicely Done!
