Nero

Nero

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

An ode to the old fiddler.

"

Tired silence breaks under time and stealth,

A fearful act of cowards make men, men,

Barelled walls steal blood from those few,

The titan stands tall towered when, when.

Slayed masters mock bodies between rows,

Guided hands feel forth souls heat, heat,

Women dance with demons in shires close,

Fractured branches fall off quiet neat, neat.

Brace a stone and crash wood open along time,

Slack reminders of an earth by hero's, hero,

A city burned bright and hot warming feet,

He danced circles and lines that Nero's, Nero.

The repetition and density of the work does make it stand out, and standing out at times, is what you do best.

The fact that you can take a historical figure and do this with him, well it's just very european and academic of you and such powers of the old fiddle (old bards) are not lost upon me.

Very easy read I guess you could say . But it almost sounds like a little ditty . Maybe a tune a little kid would carry skipping down the street . It's got that kinda feel to it . I liked it . Just not alot . But very craftily written

you said it is to make me smile, well it did (Y) good job. I'm a linguistics guy and i really love to see nice language and imagery and vivid descriptions, Things to paint the images in my mind you know? and you satisfied that. good job and i was happy to have read this piece. It's pretty short and effective and nice thing you did at the end of the lines there. keep it up !

Greek history/mythology is my fav stuff to read about. They were an amazing people. The poem is just as quirky as Nero himself.

I agree. I don't feel that it is quirky.
My favorite pieces of imagery were these two lines:
"Women dance with demons in shires close,
Fractured branches fall off quiet neat, neat."
Quite a beautiful and stunning set of lines.
Great piece.
