Lip to LipA Poem by Thomas FitzgeraldA look at the senselessness of war.Lay waste to blood on fields forgotten, battles of stupidity and stopped fear, Pry open the secrets of men behind desks, gaze upon bodies of dead children dear. Fight hand to hand and lip to lip, fright as weapons and scars old, No hope for silence upon grasslands, the knife and gun now voiced bold. Steel and cigars hold them in, memory's feel false and fresh in hail, Take peace as the commodity it is, sex and loyalty wait inside the jail. News composes thoughts of the few, the quite war now begins with talk, Science explains all but behavior, dead bodies for now begin to walk. © 2011 Thomas FitzgeraldAuthor's Note
