Letter of the Un-forgiven.

Letter of the Un-forgiven.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A study of those blind to faith and reason.

"
Slated stone crushed under a worn foot,
walking lands as arcane to travelling new,
Poised plants sully the roads of old,
doctors failed those praying on few.
Tattered houses align a single mile,
discussions hushed and silence the young,
Broken memories kill the very heart,
the old women with a woven and vinyl tongue.
A low rise hill holds the death of saints,
women mourn and cry tears for all,
Pictured captured in scenes slackened,
more hopes are needed to reach the tall.
Failed fears of children scream loose,
bright stars have fallen on those men,
A door held open for and by the divine,
Simple thoughts are key in time ten.

I'm not sure, but I may have noticed some minor errors within the piece, but regardless I think I got the jist of this after a couple of reads. IMHO, I think their are more people way too open to faith and reason, and bring religiousness a little too far and insane...while others dont have enough. Not sure if I'm making sense, religion is a touchy subject but I thought this was a great write.

Excellent write. Not sure why religion is a touchy subject when there's no certainty.

I love your choice of words, that's what kept me interested. Powerful idea has been conveyed in a great way, and the rhyme scheme is also contributing to the flow of the poem. The whole poem, actually, is like an observation(you did mention it as a 'study'), so yeah, great job and great attempt at bringing forward your views. :)

A quick twist of the rubix unlocks the colours beneath and those that are vanquished shall be mourned

Enjoyed the read

a little cryptic for me, but i see an element of jadedness of the world. there is no room for superstitious dogma mourning and the lack of importance of their fate. it is dark and sort has a black comedy quality about it. i like you style and any of your styles. you should not limit yourself and cubby hole yourself just because there are pedantic people out there. i love free verse. i say, go for it.

I like your new style, first I did not get it. I had to read twice and I finally figure it out the meaning of it. You are such a great writer my friend.

I am still in Dublin am staying at the Hilton Kilmainham.

hmmmmmmmm she says as she scratches her head..lol
Im not sure but when I read this I felt like this was about war..soldiers that had gone off to war and were killed...like I said Im not sure..I could just be being blonde..haha
The last stanza really made me read what I did into it.
Failed fears of children scream loose,
bright stars have fallen on those men,
A door held open for and by the divine,
Simple thoughts are key in time ten.

Definitely a new style. Not one with which I am familiar. Had to read and re-read like you said. I am more of a simple girl, but that's me. I liked it, for what I understood of it. :)

a delicate gem of a poem.

Sometimes faith and reason do not necessarily go hand in hand. While open to religion, I don't feel it necessary to have it shoved down ones' throat. I have my interpretation, and I keep it to myself. I do however like this piece in the fact that , once again, in my interpretation, each verse has its' own place that it belongs in this piece.
