Faggott!

Faggott!

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A look at the turmoil of my life and the experiences shared by many of this once minority! The struggle is on going, however I think tides have been turned.

"

Little Nancy boy playing with your dolls,

Chubby and quiet, that squeaky voice,
Tease him, ignore him, make him an it,
Little mammy's boy rolling in their Royce.

Awkward adolesent never showers with us,
Crap at all sports, dirty and weird,
Do you all hear what they say about it,
That he looks and speaks a little queered.

F*****g faggott, he sleeps with other men,
Makes us sick to our stomachs, it's wrong,
Our priest says its a mortal sin,
I hope he never looks at my dong.

To all you b******s that bullied that boy,
I forgive you whole heartedly, no tears,
I've come through it stronger and better than you,
I no longer feel for you at all, no fears!

Bravo Mr. Fitzgerald ! Your right..it did make you stronger and it shows in your writing, not just this piece.
I bet some of those people have become more opened minded as our communities continue crack their hearts to see with love..
I myself am a "breeder" ( : loving called this .. (again) Bravo !
……
I came back to add… I have listened to many stories from friends and family..them growing up gay.. how they were harassed by the law, put into places for mental health..because don't you know .. it can be corrected? (joking totally) ..it is not like that now where I live..but to think these things happened to people I love and admire..to hear how they rose above injustice.. well it makes me pretty proud to know them !

Excellent write, Thomas. I am so glad you have found a way to put these in perspective. I know what it is to be bullied. Kids will pick on anything that is different.

I once reviewed a poem of yours that was about gay sex. I remember that poem having a lot of "uncomfortable" reviews from guys that the poem clearly gave the heegie jeebies to. It was kinda funny but it was also unfair to you as a poet and contributor on this site. I write about straight sex (at times quite graphically) and I don't get grief for it so why should you or anyone else when they write about gay sex? It's just homophobic hypocrisy rearing it's ugly head. I liked this poem. It told a wonderful story in the face of unjust adversity. Homophobia is never going to disappear completely but at least the liberal democracies of the west are making strides towards equal rights for gays and it's about bloody time. Thank you for sharing this Thomas. This big, straight, southern, cracker a*s Marine loves you.

Ignore all the haters my friend, they were probably just jealous of you and being stupid was the only thing they knew to hide it all. I loved the message in your poem, the wording was great flowed really well. Great job.

brave words and rightly spoken, I wonder if you were too meet any of those fellas now in a one to one conversation, what would their attitude be, changed you might hope, I'm sure some of them have, the ones that went along with the leader, the ones who might now have gained their own individuality,
but bullying is wrong in any context, my belief is it equates to torture.

Boys like that share a feeling with the perception of a greater perfection of life ... they see it in their visions ... they admire the beauty of it ... and create a relation with it on the basis of its undeniable truth. An older brother who might rib him on occasion is sometimes viewed as trying to help him. In much the same way ... society that brings a knocking ... does so with an understanding that its what took them to be unfeeling a little.

The plan of life is a sure thing and it seldom needs the zealousness of supporters to ensure that we make it to the true and perfect ... but whether we understand ourselves in all our qualities when we get there. And a man knows these things because its in him. A poem that not only expounds the gentle nature of life but also its ability to forgive. Nice.

This is a powerful, amazing poem. I love, love love it, and it is probably my favourite of yours. I have tried so many times to write something about and to my bullies, it always comes out less than what I want. This has inspired me. Thank you so much. It is beautiful.

as Mark said...the best revenge!

but not only that...this reminds me of Langston Hughes' "Cross"

forgiveness, it is less of a burden then....to carry around anger takes so much energy...

judgemental people make me want to throw up....we are all human beings making our way.
