The N****r Word.

The N****r Word.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A challenge to those that still think it appropriate to use this foul word of hate and oppression.

"

A blast of hatred of acid tongues,

A needless phrase to scold the tall,
A forgotten hero they never mention,
Take a look at the one called Robert Smalls.

A swipe by fist of foul means,
A dangerous concoction of sparks,
A cowards language of sorts,
Take a look at the one called Rosa Parks.

A definition of weakness in ruling,
A slap in the face of the now free,
A collapsed cult now gone forever,,
Take a look at the one called Isabella Baumfree.

A word is a word to fight and hurt,
A sentence pinned together from fools,
A paragraph of silence descends upon you,
The N word no longer a relevant tool.

I agree with you completely Thomas people's minds need to be changed, they look at one thing and characterize all black people which isn't fair. Your poem was amazing, and I liked how you said "Take a look at the one called..." This is my all-time favorite poem by you. The N word is no longer a reverent tool. OUTSTANDING!!

Powerful piece. I think many people have heard of Rosa Parks, but I have never heard of Robert Smalls or Isabella Baumfree. I'll have to take some free time today and take a look at their accomplishments. Thanks for the great poem! :)

When was the N word ever a reverent tool?

wow...where do i begin...the poem is exceptional, it's incredible how the system feeds the world with negativity when it comes to black people but what is even more disturbing is that black people can not see it, they are blinded by so much ignorance, from television, to movies and music videos, designed specifically for them that they actually think it's the way they should act...Bill Cosby said it well "Black America your dirty underwear is showing"... The machine is bigger than we truly know and the plan has been executed for now...perfectly

wonderfully expressed in this fine write and encompassing relevance as well , you do the black man justice. sad note: the young blacks in america (the ghetto ones)
are calling each other the "n" word. hard to wrap the mind around...

This is brilliant, you've put your message across perfectly to challenge the views of ignorant people who still go against black people.

Great write and to be applauded!

One of the finest short phrases in any language is ' human beings ' , maybe when we ALL - no matter what colour, nationality or creed realise that's what and who we are, our planet just might be a better place. Ok that might seem idealistic - if it does, so what! To use derogatory words is just displaying self-doubt, fear and yes - ignorance. When things are wrong, the best neighbour is the one who gives you a hand .. no matter the colour of his or her palm.

I love the referances to historic heros/heroines in his, and the meaning portrayed was utterly fantastic. I agree, enough is enough. A beautiful read :)

I agree...you know your history. The subject is relevant, but the notion that people's minds can be changed is ideal; however, the World is full of ignorance, and from what I have seen, those who are ignorant retain their ignorance. Hate vs Love. I guess the place to begin is with ourselves. There is much heart in this piece, and I admire that. Well done :-)
