The N****r Word.

A challenge to those that still think it appropriate to use this foul word of hate and oppression.

A blast of hatred of acid tongues,

A needless phrase to scold the tall,

A forgotten hero they never mention,

Take a look at the one called Robert Smalls.

A swipe by fist of foul means,

A dangerous concoction of sparks,

A cowards language of sorts,

Take a look at the one called Rosa Parks.

A definition of weakness in ruling,

A slap in the face of the now free,

A collapsed cult now gone forever,,

Take a look at the one called Isabella Baumfree.

A word is a word to fight and hurt,

A sentence pinned together from fools,

A paragraph of silence descends upon you,

The N word no longer a relevant tool.

Author's Note

Just a tiny insight of my hatred for the oppression of Black people everywhere, there fight I think will never end, but the minds of those ignorant must be changed.

I agree with you completely Thomas people's minds need to be changed, they look at one thing and characterize all black people which isn't fair. Great job, Thomas! I hate the N word, and have never used it. I remember just after my kids were born, I had a neighbor who had lived down south. She told me how black were treated down there, I just couldn't believe it.

I read the book The Help, have you read it? I saw the movie too, but the movies are never as good as the book.

I knew who Rosa Parks was, but you tricked me with Isabella Baumfree - I knew her as Sojourner Truth. Why have I never heard of Robert Smalls before? Well, I know who he is now, thanks to you, Thomas. When I was in school, black history wasn't taught. So very glad that has been rectified.

The N word means - slave. The fact that we are all slaves makes us all N's no matter the colour of your complexion.

very good poem, like the way you put some very vivid images, especially on the first stanza. I don't know any of those people but I can definitely guess they have something in common you want us to pay attention on, the fact they are all mentioned in the last verse of every stanza makes it even more clear !
