The Farm's Blessing.

The Farm's Blessing.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A life on the land.

"
The wind falls deep,
Across Summer's grass,
Preparation for Winter,
The grass colour will pass.

The spirit now settled,
The ocean unchanged,
The rocks are receding,
From sky it has rained.

The nests now shadowed,
Animals are maturing,
Birds of no fear now,
Once scary now alluring.

Crops now are harvested,
Pales now brought in,
Food plenty for Winter,
For all of his kin.

The late summer is high-lighted beautifully here, I loved the second and last stanzas. You brought past present and future into this, besides a nice feel for the elements, wildlife and harvest. Lovely. Great Title, the idea of life on the land is heaven to me. Thanks.

I may not have ever stepped foot on a farm, but I can get a sense of what it would be like with this poem. Quite refreshing.

The farmer's life has a point and focus that few others know. I think you capture the farm and the blessing that patch can bring to those willing to work it.

I spent some of my youth living on a farm in the Northwest of the US. I felt some memories reading your poem. That tells me it is authentic. Thank you.

I don't review poems posted more than a month ago, but this one appealed to me.

Fun structure and good imagery! I enjoyed the second stanza the most, as it came off with the best flow.

I think the third and fourth stanzas might need a little reworking, as all of the "now's" were hard to pick through. Other than that, I enjoyed the poem! Good writing and keep up the work!!

Your words express the vastness of the land and the bountiful provision. Like a song of the earth, you've created an ambience of time and place.
