Shatter.

Shatter.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

An ode to winter.

"
As wild winds blow,
The flesh is blue,
A raindrop fallen,
The season now new,
The tress stripped naked,
Red cheeks of the old,
Sickness now invitational,
All syrups are sold,
J.Frost at your door,
Hot coals on the grate,
Curled toes at midnight,
Steaming food on your plate,
Fields of white blankets,
A black heart in her,
Snow queen now please,
It's finally winter.

The days of winter are not missed. I had a few warm days of spring here in Michigan. I like your description of the winter slowly putting away memories of life and green. A very good ending to the memory of winter. A excellent poem.

Your rhyming was excellent when reading it's so seamless that I didn't even pick up on the rhyme scheme at first. I wouldn't have imagined the snow queens heart to be black though I would've of thought it resembled a snow ball lol. And also what made you entitle the poem Shatter?

But I wanna think of spring! Of winter I have had enough. Your memories of winter are lovely and bucolic, mine....not so much! At any rate, this is lovely, a warm write to warm the coldest winter day.
