ABOVE.

ABOVE.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

My take on how religion, not faith, can read in the mind.

"

The being of one, the truth of another,

Broken promises to you the one our ruler,

Be forgotten your commandments we shout aloud,

Yet the early hours of the seventh day,

Bring lie and false witness,

Dare we the flesh bring through the barrier of reality,

Even though above thinks fantasy is all but fiction,

Even though his followers be true fiction as reality,

Dare he condemn?

Dare we cry?

For the truth is in the mist as we come alive.

Having dealt with religious fanaticism and tribalism I can tell you seriously twisted interpretations of holy words in the hands of the unreasonably Xenophobic is a sure fire catastrophe with a short, quick fuse.
Really good poem Thomas. Great Photo of you too. You're a rather handsome lad.

This is something each person will think differently on and have their ow perception of. It is a write that is strong in nature and no one should condemn another unless they are perfect.

Provocative words. Indeed faith deserves an answer. It must be up to the test. You have asked that question. And who answers? Are we both the question and answer perhaps? Ever since the consolidation of monothesism and the erradication of Pantheism (worshipping many gods) pagan Christianity was outlawed and decimated by the Roman Empire (most notablly consolidated under Emperor Constantine)

We westerners have been conditioned to seek God outside of the Earth and consequently outside ourselves. Prior to Roman Imperialism, the Pagan Earth-based religions from which Christianity emerged, individuals had, through worship of various Earth deities a guaranteed and very personal direct link with the divine through intuitively connecting with the elemental natural forces.

However this was largely destroyed, usurped, coveted and distorted by Rome as a means of mass mind control over the subjects of Rome and consequently all of "Christiandom" thereafter. For to locate the centre of divinity outside of Earth (nature) and therefore outside of man, the subjects of Rome and of all (non-pagan christians thereafter) meant the enslavement of having to vest all spiritual authority to the will of god's very human and highly corruptible representative on Earth, namely a self-appointed, or Imperially sanctioned member of the Church or Dominant Imperial political Elite

For a long time the Roman elite continued to worship the old pantheistic pagan gods and practices the old rites (like ritual seasonal feasts, drug and alcohol indiced revelry and orgies) while such rites were banned to commoner user threat of of torture or execution.

But eventually even the Roman elites too, fell under the spell of thier own deeply conservative and delusional male-dominated egos and sought the investment even more absolute spiritual authority in the heads of Church and state.

Pre-Roman Christianity placed emphasis on sacred feminine values which is one of the reasons why female witch burnings became common place as the Romans sought to eradicate this influence. Pagan male deities were always worshipped in tandem with female ones generally with the female deity in dominance as a creator godess, having the ultimate power to bring thing life into exsitence. Patriarcial monotheism destroyed the masculine feminine harmony, in vesting all sacred power into a singular male deity, thus severing our direct experience of divinity that was was routinely achieved through worship of nature and its spirits.

So clearly your answers must lie in Pre-roman Christianity, with its earth earth gods and godesses. For Jesus teachings and archetypal behaviours evolved through a distorted mish mash of Elite sanctioned spirtual dogma. Repeatedly re-edited, composites of various Babalonian, Assyrian, Egyptian and European pagan beliefs and rites stripped of thier most empowering and self realised elements.

The differece however, was that the original pagan and godess oriented worship that was destroyed to make way for Christianity had been built over thousands of years by earlier humans from a highly advanced ecological and cosmological undertstanding of the workings of nature and our relationship to it. This higly sophisticated ancient knowledge was substantially obliterated by Rome, and subsequent imperialism and colonialism through to scientific western modernity. It is one of the devestating fracture points in the human collective conciousness that has sown much of the seeds for the emergent global ecological disharmony and disease and spiritual crises that many are now experiencing and we are now seeing a massive shift back in the other directions as cosmological procession expresses a resurgence of feminine values and the dissolution of the male dominator paradigm which has wrought so much destruction and chaos upon the humanity and the earth.

That is what the whole big deal about 2012 being armegeddon is about. There is absolutely nothing to fear its its the controlling patriarcial global elite pumping existential terror into the global poulation in order to try and prevent the expression and re-emergence of sacred feminine values which will begin to retore balance and harmony to earth and its people.

The basic tenets of all religions are the same. A day of rest and contemplation is a good thing. Off course Man has to go and corrupt everything, so religion has become divisive. Thought provoking good write.

I could say this is rude and "shun the nonbeliever" however it isn't and I won't. Humans have natural born rights. I must say though, there is, er was a beleif by the aztecs that the world isn't going to end with a preapocalypse, humans and environments will evolve to different spiritual, physical and mental levels ex bible time a main time of religion and spirit, vikings a time of brute physical strength, modern day, rare spirit, rare physical, however, great mental strenght is depended on (knowledge is power) and the next evolution is self enlightenment, then beleif that we are Gods and don't need one. Sound familliar? ;) Also just some refrences AFI- sacrilege and Nightwish- Song of Myself and this poem which registers a like veiw

That is why the only church I attend is the one in my heart. Very clever little write here, Thomas. Religion is man made but whatever exists just exists, regardless of what you do with your Sunday.

Religion communicates the truth of the individual but is necessarily obliged to do so at a social level. The message becomes in that way a little mixed and difficult to relate to. But where you have the opportunity to review the teachings in the light of your own specific and individual needs, you will be unto yourself, Aquinas. But don't mistake your satire for criticism, religion is, in some way, a prankster in disguise to teach man. But then, you already know that, don't you?

I believe we are judged by our deeds not our preaching.. whether in this life or another. Not a fan of secular religions as it seems to breed way too much intolerance. Your words are always so intense and thought provoking.

Your poem highlights the basic, built-in need that all humans have for spirituality. The most 'primitive' tribesman will worship something, even if he has to create it himself out of a chunk of wood. Because faith cannot be measured by yardstick or thermometer, some people don't believe it exists. But, looking in the mirror they see someone who has FAITH in science or politics. I cry for those without faith in God. I enjoy your writing, which also highlights the importance of personal viewpoint. Like the Roman ruler told Jesus, "What is truth?" Ok, ok, I'll get off my soapbox.

I believe in God, but am not necessarily a Christian. I like the way you state (and understate) your beliefs.
