A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A working that tells the story of Irish Mothers during a time of obsolete danger.

"
As black flags ruffled,
And Mother's prayed,
One hundred candles were lit,
With his life he payed.

Don't let another one die,
My son is not a criminal,
A prisoner of war,
Their life's all terminal.

Two county's of ownership,
Both religions unstable,
Hundreds have died now,
The people incapable.

Their walls full of blood,
Slop out those dirt pans,
The prison couldn't care less,
God bless sweet Bobby Sands.

I am reading this because I wrote a dated one too..I know this one's a tribute to someone who gave his life away, to make others lives more meaningful..there's agony in this poem, a tribute to the man's effort, his silent terminal endeavor which gets forgotten in the ebbs of time and events. I am glad at its existence and relevance, 20 years down the line :-)

A touching piece that was nicely written. So often the sacrifices of people are forgotten with the passing of time.

F.G.F. Said I'm sure that much of the world is the same. I've only one thing to add... The world has always been this way. It isn't really race, creed, or bounderies... but the true war is rich vs. poor

This was a wonderful poem to remember Bobby Sands, and I found it quite easy to connect with it because of how you've worded it all. I hope you write more things like this

This was a beautiful tribute to your friend! Your poem shows the horrors of war of losing those close to you, because people have not learned tolerance. Great work!
