Goddess.

Goddess.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A study of Goddess!

"
Anger rouses her from sleep and dawns the blue,
Red tongue as proof her enemies blood,
Cowards hide and demons retreat,
As Kali rips muscle and skin in the flood.

Three days the telling of this fearsome one,
Beer held her fast and sleep came,
Sekhmet lust for mankind to crumble,
No need to leave them alive and lame.

Tears flowed and covered creation,
A bull whose soul had passed out of reach,
Ishtar with power to rule all men,
The gates opened for hell to preach.

Magic blessed her time and time again,
The crossroads never lonely or bare,
Hecate will punish and protect,
For alone she rules with Mothers care.

Wise to follow her words to the letter,
Minerva can see all reaction to guise,
Crafted weapons will guide only man,
Take solace in her ever failing eyes.

The ship she crafted from the dead's nails,
Never minding of squabbles with Gods,
Hel prevails over all of the damned,
Now she rules like her Father, with rods.

Ma'at keeps order in perfect balance,
Ever scorned by those in pure madness,
Keep calm and follow her divine rights,
Or forever stay in peril and deep sadness.

Sacred woman are not to  be forgotten or troubled,
With power comes ordinance and bravery,
Follow most and seek peace within their bosom,
As men will forever be within their slavery.

yes, men are ruled by them...in truth...
i liked the allusion to the flood and Noah...but can we build an ark strong enough to defend against her wrath? doubtful....and we will fall eventually....
women were put down long enough...it is time for them to rule and for us to take our place beside them..
enthralling piece of writing here...combining the truth of today's world with mythic wanderings.

Thank you Katrina.
I am a mythology nerd, and so you can well imagine what a treat this was for me!
Most of these mythologies preach equality and balance between the masculine and feminine forces. With kali, we have her male consort Shiva; with Ma'at we have Thoth; with Sekhmet, we have her husband Ptah, and their son Nefertum; Ishtar has Tammuz.
Likewise, women don't want to rule men, we just aspire for equality, balance, and harmony.

Me too, thank you.
I agree dear Thomas. Goddesses could be sweet and they could kill and destroy.
"Sacred woman are not to be forgotten or troubled,
With power comes ordinance and bravery,
Follow most and seek peace within their bosom,
As men will forever be within their slavery"
I love the above lines. A wonderful write my friend.

Reality is scary so we drift off to a place that’s comfortable. Do we see what’s there or do we see what we wish was there?. Very thought provoking!

I totally agree with the idea of this poem. Women should be afforded the same respect as man. Great thoughts on this poetry.

Wow, great read. Yes, powerful women always keep us in their thrall. There's just something about them... I love your mythology allusions, they definitely weave a rich thread into this because it allows me to connect both with what you're writing, and with what's been written in the past. Nice work.

You are impressive in composing your poem as those Goddesses in the realm of beauty and power. Women always held that over men if we don't kid ourselves. You are sounding like a bard of olden days...

Welcome. ..... ..
Kali from the Hindu ...the Egyptian Sekhmet ...Hecate from the Greeks ...i had to look them all up .. and i appreciate the education your poem has given me today ... pretty daunting poetry to assemble all those goddesses together and lift up such a dichotomy in character and power ... both man-eaters and guides ... fierce and passionate ... well done ... lots of work had to go into this to get them all straight ... i think the quatrains and consistant rhyme scheme lends strength, flow and also a classic feel to it .. fine read for me ... women are tops .. no doubt about that in me ol' nog! ... they yield the allure and the power .. and always win :{

Oh the power a woman can wield over a man - yet some fear they can’t live without them ;) this is an intriguing ode to the many strengths these Goddess’ possess(ed)

This is one impressive bit of poetics
Not much not to like and I do wonder how you came up with it all
I don't so much mind being ruled by a woman, with men having made such a mess .
Although I am attracted by a woman's femininity, I wonder if such a dominant female would still be attractive enough for me
