We Ourselves.

We Ourselves.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A history of those that fight for the island of Ireland, and that bring change when others wish to keep us the people in our place.

"
Beidh Sinn Fein mar bhaile dóibh siúd a iontas,
Maidir le hÉirinn a thagann le chéile i mórtas,
Beidh dóchas agus deora ag an oileán seo go deo,
Glac le Artur Griffith bac ar na heagla sin.

Cé go bhfuilimid trí chogadh agus trioblóidí,
Ní ghlacann sé ach guth amháin leis na cúpla sin a dhífhabhtú,
Déanfaidh fir atá i gcumhacht an gréasán dlúth sin a chasadh,
Doirttear fables agus bréaga uathu féin agus a gcriú.

Tá go leor acu tar éis titim ó na céimeanna nach bhfuil ar eolas,
Buckley, McLogan, agus b'fhéidir O'kelly freisin,
Anois tá ceannaire againn ar fad anseo,
Is ainm é Mcdonald chun an baile a threorú agus a fíor.

Éist le daoine leis na gaotha feadh na h-oileáin seo,
Ní féidir le haon amhras éirí as agus cabhrú linn,
D’fhuaireamar an talamh seo arís ar na hÉireannaigh,
Ní bheidh geallúintí níos mó agus dall againn a thuilleadh.

I don't know the inner workings of your body politics in Ireland these days. I only know sinn fein is the political party of the anglo Irish treaty origins. I am part Riley and mccoy (of the Hatfields and Mccoy fame) many of my relatives still talk of the old country and of its independance.

Thank you Andrew.
A wonderful poem shared my dear friend Thomas.
"Sinn Fein will be home to those who surprise,
About Ireland that meets in pride,
This island will have hope and tears forever,
Accept Artur Griffith to stop that fear.

Although we are through war and troubles,
It only takes one voice to disinfect those twins,
Men in power shall turn that close network, t
Fables and lies are poured from themselves and their crew.

Many of them have fallen from unknown steps,
Buckley, McLogan, and possibly O'kelly too,
Now we all have a leader here,
Mcdonald's name is to guide the town and its true.

Listen to people with winds along these islands,
No doubt can resign and help us,
We got this land again on the Irish,
We will no longer promise and blind."
I loved the poetry and I hope you are doing well. I was glad to see your name today. Have fun and be safe.

my heritage is from County Donegal and County Galway ... and the Scottish Highlands ..so me heart swells with the Irish pride handed me by all those before me ... scars are scars aren't they?! healed but ever present ... a boasting place ;) .. a place of pain :( i especially appreciate your mention of Artur Griffith ..such an important man in Ireland's history says i .. and the various clans you mention makes me think of the del riota and all of us scattered about ... most never having set foot on the Isle .. like me .. but in all honesty i feel the pull ... i see my Da's Irish eyes sparkle .. your poem has waxed me sentimental my friend .. in sorrow and longing ... would love to read this written in an English version .. not a translation .. but saying what you want to say in an English version .. be that as it may .. even the look of Gaelic on the page inspires romance and daring-do ;) i will lift me pint to the Irish today my friend .. and to you! :))))))))) slainte mhath
