My Dear Dad.A Poem by Thomas FitzgeraldLosing ones parent rips at your very essence, I will miss you.A mere glimpse in time we had here with us, Fleeting and beautiful your soul now soars, Pain claimed the body and shackled the mind, Tears fall heavy in streams of sobs and roars.
Hero doesn’t cover my love towards you, In kisses and tender words you’re rearing, No fear was shown or given in scolding, My boy you boomed out to any of hearing.
Country man as always mucked and happy, Fields of crops looked upon again and forever, Fish swam away when reels graced your hands, Ah how friends laughed in jokes so clever.
I’ll miss you there is no mistake in that, However angels keep you now so I can’t be mad, A life so celebrated now lives within us all, For me I’ve lost you, be happy, my dear Dad. © 2018 Thomas FitzgeraldAuthor's Note
