Little Minds, Little Times

Little Minds, Little Times

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A look at those behind bars for a time.

"
As rain sheets the tiled homes of those housed in,
Time punctures essence in kind for broken men,
Stable types ever walking the barred walls alone,
Frightened eyes shake as if to hide from the pen.

Robes and hammers rule the day at sentence start,
Fallen angels stand tall as war imprisoned all,
Not legal jousts or rotten speeches pouring forth,
Little minds, little times and little words will fall.

Scratch's take on meanings of calendars forth,
One month, two year, each decade decay in nests,
No humour can ever puncuate this hellish playground,
The state after all foots with money no kinds rests.

Slack hands make new wifes out of slender men,
Fear leaves one hollow and you make space for us,
Practice heaves a heavy burden for warden now home,
A crested bosom awaits those without shield or fuss.

The imagery was spot on in depicting cell life. A thought provoking write.

I agree. The imagery is awesome. Emotions of loneliness and fear are are subtle but gave me a cold f.. read more
I liked the kind of experiment you had showed here. I had to read it thrice to get the exact meaning and feelings what you had got while writing. And the way you have maintained rhymes along with the long sentences seem amazing to me. This poem gives a good message also. I think that this is the exact way how one has to make experiments on... It was a good time reading...

Thank you.
Experimental write...sometimes more creatively challenging, I reckon. I thoroughly enjoyed the in depth mood and surroundings of captivity; I could sense the anger and sorrow, also relating it to various situations and conditions in life. We need not have fallen like some, but fallen we are in this broken world. Great read to ponder, Thomas!

Thank you Marianne.
We all walk in life carrying light or heavy burdens. We feel the weight of stones and slabs we incur on ourselves or we place on others unjustly. We need liberation from so many things. An excellent write with a message...:)))

I do believe we are all fallen angels to one extent or another, some of us have just fallen a little further. When will we learn to love first ... fantastic write as always, my friend:)
