Water Charge.

Water Charge.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A look at my country being torn apart by a government not ready to listen to those that handed them the power to govern.

"

Little Kenny grinning in money vaults,

Clear signs again that tax will rise,

Now natural resource runs smooth no more,

Our water the b******s turn free to prise.

Burton trapped in comfy steel cages,

Bless the children she bawls yet hide,

Silence the people with inner workings,

Not knowing the anger of Irish pride.

Water charges the newest beacon we see,

God forbid we have anything that's ours,

When will air be taxed by these monster's,

Oh chuckle all you suited drunk sours.

A message clear from my strong kinsmen,

Lay down your papers and listen clear,

We will not take your monetary obsession,

For we the Irish are all done with fear.

The only time the politicians care is when it benefits them financially… a powerful expression of what is wrong with this country.

Thank you.
Your political poems are by far, my favourite of yours, partially because your passion and intelligence simply JUMPS off the page when you write these. Everything we feared is coming to pass. And Canada, with all our water, I am afraid for our future ...

As am I darling thank you
Economic theory list things like air ... water ... timber ... fish etc as free gifts of nature. Seems such an odd thing to say in these times. Nice ...

Indeed thank you.
I'm not from Ireland, but there's a lot of this going around! Way to stand up for what is right. This was very well expressed with great power. Nice work!

A very good political poem that raises so many right questions about the state of your country and those fat cats exploiting people and power. Excellent as usual...:).....................

The poem left me with questions. I could feel the disappointment and anger. I live near Detroit. Poor leadership for 50 years. Hard to repair old messes. Need to clean house and begin again. Only Irish I know are fearless. Strong words and thoughts my friend. I like them.

It sucks that they tax and charge for everything. Our water smells when we turn on the tap so we use mostly bottled water except bathing and cleaning. We still have to pay a min. Of 45 dollars a month for it no matter the amount we use. Feel your frustration.

They'll get us one way or another thank you
Too very true! And, air is already taxed! You can't even put air in your tires for free! The way I see it, we pay a tax on everything -- even burial plots!

You're welcome.
A most spirited and uplifting piece here Thomas. We are brutalised by politicians who are in the pay of the rich and privilaged. The lower and middle classes pay the price. Rise up my Irish Brothers! Wish we had done so on 18th September.

Indeed John, it's a very sore subject here but needs to be discussed and written on, thank you.
