The Stronger Sex!

The Stronger Sex!

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A look at some of the most toughened women in history, completely without regard for others and let nothing stop them from completing their purpose, some call them evil, others inspirational!

"

A Queen to rule both nations part,

Leon and Castile we hunt and kneel,

A Catholic mind was her only will,

To cast a shadow no scars to heal.

The raised moniker Bloody Mary,

Sought faith in Scotland's arms,

Returned to claim a crowned seat,

Never stopping for blood farms.

Bathory always clinging to hunger,

Poor maids slain for now they fall,

The blood that made her younger,

Your hear a voice behind the wall.

Dear Joan they burned for fashion,

A weapon sealed by men's cloth,

Handing kingdoms back as toys,

A King to sip on champagne froth.

I guess it depends which side of the fence you sat on, how you regarded these women. Without doubt they led from the front, were totally focused in achieving their aims and fearless. I enjoyed the rhyme here. I have always admired classical poetry. My choice has to be the Queen of the Iceni. She did it for me.

Bold! Shatters the view of women today's society has! You took the helm of a controversial topic and steered it into uncharted waters. Well done. I really enjoyed this, thanks for writing!

Thank you Poppy.
Some were victims in the end of their own agendas.

Tom, not all are as versed in the historical imperative as you are. Perhaps added bibliographical "notes" defining names and positions with their times would help.

A good and strong piece.

I will indeed Chris, thank you.
Many strong and dangerous women. I believe woman would be colder and harder leaders than men. A woman in power can be as dangerous as any man. I like the bit of history in the amazing poetry.

You are welcome dear friend.
An expression of will in women ... in positions of power ... that breaks any conventional view of women as weak. Astounding ...

Thomas you always bring your own unique style to the party and this historic piece is no exception.
Did you mean 'your' in the line 'Your hear a voice behind the wall'?

No it's meant to be "you" - thanks John.
An interesting read Thomas! It made me think. One of my favorite books is LORD OF THE FLIES by William Golding. It shows how close we could potentially be from savagery. A great write! Thanks for sharing it!

I suppose in a savage world courage is most often seen in the form of savagery. Oh but I await the time when one can conquer by raising the world up with her. Great great write, Thomas. Not sure who the Bathory figure is however. I will have to google.

Do her full name was Elizabeth Bathory - known as a vampire for her lust for blood, thank you.

Yep … I found her … I am going to go with she was a victim of propaganda … terrifying stuff:)
