January

January

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A look to the start of your year.

"

Janus our God you open the doorway,

Release the old and sweep the floor,

Bristles cling to mistakes and wisp,

Above a coil of wind lands to moor.

Saxons names you wolf month once,

For reasons of guarding the field,

Teeth bared and telling to stop quick,

Release a guide to help one yield.

Cottage pinks grow free from garnets,

Colours flood the mind and make free,

Soft touching and truths roam endless,

Ah the tramp now left on decree.

Plough Sunday nestles deep in your breast,

Burns night has lasting first members,

Martin Luther King Jr. celebrated in states,

Republic Day also has rose from the embers.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Is one of my heroes... As a child he was the one who spoke out for all races not just his own. Growing up as a child mixed with so many different nationalities was hard, but some how clinging to his words helped me raise my head high.
I love that you have started the New year with this piece, my sweet Thomas. You are a Jewel.

This is a very well thought out piece..I can tell you did a lot of research and brain storming into what really is the psyche of January silhouettes. The color and senses are right in point and on cue with this beautiful verbal tapestry of the old becoming a new beginning again...excellent piece

I like this Tom. I have ben thinking about writing a series for each month... I'm not sure I could do it the justice you have given January in this far spanning and profound poem.
You began in the days of Saxons and ended in modern reform... Great work!
