Floccinaucinihilipilification.

Floccinaucinihilipilification.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

The act of assesing something thats worthless.

"

A tiny and mere space of nothing in-between,

No smiles or tears to capture in one’s heart,

Lifeless emotion to stare on aimlessly,

Graves are open to fill in, in part.

Blank eyes have souls of no matter,

Tea stains in perfect hollow rings,

Thoughts come and go with furious wind,

Take attention of nothing he sings.

Fingers punching at plastic and horror,

Read on dear people no love of pans,

Lapping on vodka to feel something, anything,

Speed in lines in balls in acid coloured cans.

Brace yourself Time my w***e master,

I’m running to you now without jittery retention,

Catch my waist as wings give promise in attendance,

Pain gone or exhausted floccinaucinihilipilification.

A very poignant comment on life. Looking at it in a way, life is just a nothingness, a meaningless interval between two events. And we, in futility, searching for a meaning, a drug, till all is swept by time into an open, waiting grave. I agree with Shane Mohamed -A masterpiece from you.

Thanks Anto!
Often I feel of no value or worth, I try to convince myself it is all in my mind and then I realize, everything is in my mind. Thomas, this empty feeling which I know so well is portrayed perfectly in your poem. The dark corners, the crowds of empty faces, the desire to be something, yet holding ones breath never seems to help. Very nice.

I'm glad you did, thanks.
What do I think about this poem? Well.....probably, as an observer, I`m trying to visualise where you are while you are writing it....I`ve got a picture of a kitchen and you exploring the emptiness of a vodka bottle. There are stark images in this piece, though I didn`t enjoy it....so from that point of view, it was successful. P.

Well the kitchen part is right, thank you for the review.
without being empty how can we know the worth of an emotion................
and sometimes being blank and emotionless is something like the cleaning process of our being so that we can come up with something better...........
well composed!

Thank you very much.
You are joshing me! that's a word? The poem is sad but so well progressed. The protagonist is at a real low ebb having dabbled in alcohol and drugs to escape the mundane and now even contemplates death.
