Floccinaucinihilipilification.

Floccinaucinihilipilification.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

The act of assesing something thats worthless.

"

A tiny and mere space of nothing in-between,

No smiles or tears to capture in one’s heart,

Lifeless emotion to stare on aimlessly,

Graves are open to fill in, in part.

Blank eyes have souls of no matter,

Tea stains in perfect hollow rings,

Thoughts come and go with furious wind,

Take attention of nothing he sings.

Fingers punching at plastic and horror,

Read on dear people no love of pans,

Lapping on vodka to feel something, anything,

Speed in lines in balls in acid coloured cans.

Brace yourself Time my w***e master,

I’m running to you now without jittery retention,

Catch my waist as wings give promise in attendance,

Pain gone or exhausted floccinaucinihilipilification.

A very poignant comment on life. Looking at it in a way, life is just a nothingness, a meaningless interval between two events. And we, in futility, searching for a meaning, a drug, till all is swept by time into an open, waiting grave. I agree with Shane Mohamed -A masterpiece from you.

This certainly is an intriguing poem. Very thought provoking.

I know I have often wondered, does anything in this world really have value?

Indeed, thank you
Dark, melancholic, and pondersome. I had to read this a couple of times to grok everything, but in this case, it was a good thing. It wasn't that your words were unclear, I just needed to wrap my brain around them. That is one hellava long word! *phew* I tried to pronounce it and gave up midway through.. lol. It makes for a catchy title and idea for a poem though. Great job, Thomas.

Well, the piece is dark and gloomy and stark with precision. My eyes darted back and forth to grasp the depth of the piece; one thing that I noticed; you always execute with intentional depth. It sounds like a solemn poem that a hopeless character would write before committing suicide. It's as if he or she renounces life, with all of its pleasures. Fantastic, really. Masterpieces are being written.

Rare. the estimation of something as valueless (encountered mainly as an example of one of the longest words in the English language).

Yeah, one of THE longest words in the English language, but it's not short on interpretations...

Life, there's another word left wide open for interpretation. Is it the moment we are conceived? Does it pertain to the force inside which drives us? Or, is it just a generic reference to a hum-drum meaning of useless existence> Interpretations are everything, aren't they?

Certain pains, you pick up along life's journey, you never shake off. Others, you learn to live with, barely.

Indeed Dean, these things have many hidden debts.
It's like sitting in front of a TV channel surfing and nothing's on. or going out, getting hammered, waking up hung over and not knowing what happened. An adventure that never happened, a hot f**k you never got, a moment lost that went nowhere. Outstanding write sir!
