The Wolves.

The Wolves.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A look at oe of my favourite characters - Anne Rices Lestat.

"

Seated minds always turn on those whole,

My father has hands to whip and blind,

Two brothers seek pillage without fear,

A mother to old and sick to change her mind.

A friend of fancy saves Paris and plays solid,

Fancy garments hide tears he sobs at night,

I turn to comfort and kiss and hold close,

Though never for those with a keen telling sight.

The wolves gather to mock me in line and forest,

I bash at those near with gavels held high,

A mortal with deeds of running form this village,

Why must we spit on those that tell a dark lie.

Goodbye dear reader for your time has truly come,

A moment of men that lived long ago in that,

Pierce now the mind that is clouded with wording,

For that was me then before the Vampire Lestat.

I love Ann Rice's characters. She is suck a skillful writer. I saw her book about werewolves. I really want to buy it but had others on the list to buy first. This is a great write about amazing characters and even if you didn't tell me what it was about it would tell an amazing story.

Welcome!
Our intuitiveness serves the human needs well but not when it is unclothed, unschooled and uncivil. We left the pack back in the wolf den when we moved into civil society but it'll take us longer to get the wolf to return to its den. However every act in that direction is an invaluable advancement for us. Nice write Thomas.

Hi Thomas, this has a dark feel to it and even though not a vampire seeker I have walked with wolves and am in awe of their power hidden in the innocence of our own love for their domestic decedents.

This begs a reference; both before and after reading. Of course you, Thomas, have provided that in the notes. But the reference I refer to is not one from books, or movies, or even conversation. It is a deeper, darker reference that can only be extracted from that place within each reader where such things exist that are paid for with tokens of unspeakable contemplations. Within these thought-shadows, voices beckon to 'mortal men of moment', sketched so casually in this piece but with a subtle force, evident by the deep creases left upon the reader's mind. I fear your entanglement with this poorly lit corner of existence is far from over. Perhaps never.

welcome:)
I must confess that I haven't read enough Anne Rice to be familiar with the Lestat character, so my review of this may be lack in thematic understanding.

However, this is a very dense bit of writing, and I can tell that you have attempted to weave a lot of meaning into it. It has an emphatic, declamatory sound, but is never quite over the top with it, which gives it a feeling of a slow burn.

Best wishes.

I haven't read that particulare work, but when I first read this I thought Lestat, like the vampire from Queen of the Damned? Anyway, great work Thomas:) I haven't read you in a while, but I love this:) I can understand it really well too, even without having that background knowledge. Thank you for another wonderful piece!!!

Your always welcome:)
i sincerely hope that this is an indication that you have become enamored with the idea of delving back into your vampire writes. i have so enjoyed those in the past. this is almost Victorian in structure, or some other age and dialect which precedes our own and quite attractive because of such. always love reading your writes, Thomas.. you are a unique and amazing poet.
