burning barn

burning barn

A Poem by Kirstin

you would be remiss to not feel as i do
your words drip
       the
    sweetest
  honey
i am starved for these moments
where you and i are encased in glass while the
world that doesn't even know you and i exist
walk by in the purest of ignorance.
we do not have feelings
we are nothing to them

but you are everything to me.

we drove past a burning barn and for a split
second i realized you're the fire that warms
my soul, and the flame that destroys it.
your presence permeates my every thought.
your smile melts every ounce of willpower I have
within my once strong fortress.

i would rather be burned by you than loved by anyone else.
