Chapter 5A Chapter by clayton_97The early morning light could have blinded me. But today, it was befitting that it be like this. I just wanted it to be over. Something to just occur and let it be over. “Caleb?!” I heard Ashley yell. “WHAT?!?!?” I yelled back gutturally. She appeared in the doorway. “I’ll have you know that someone is at the door for you.” She said. “Who?” I asked, not expecting her to know who they were. “Colton.” She responded. I jumped out of my bed and ran to the door. “Hey! Good to see you!” I said as I pulled him in for a tight embrace. He looked at me with sorrow in his eyes, visible even to my numb heart. “How are you doing? Are you okay?” He asked when he finally found the words to speak. I nodded and led him back to the room where everything happened. I looked into the deep golden orbs and felt all the pain come back to me in a wave. So I leaned in and rested my head on his wide shoulder, and let every feeling I had in that moment out in a single wail. He shuddered, I assume from the sound. I continued to let all the tears come out, all the sadness I had shut up. He slowly rubbed circles around my back and comforted me. “It’s okay, everything is okay.” Just like what Ashley did. But this felt different. It was good to hear his voice, it felt...soothing, like it was my own personal painkiller. I didn't want to face letting go just yet. It hurt just a little too much to deal with on that level. So I found the outfit I desired most. The shirt was satin, a gift from Hunter as well as a pair of black polyester pants that I had purchased myself. But nonetheless they were the remaining inkling of what life had been like before he asked me to leave, but I did understand what he had said to me. He had wanted to show me his love in the way he understood; to him it was evil. To him, it would ruin the two of us: the perfect relationship. And I knew that he was not right, but nothing could be done about it now. He always seemed to know what would happen for any of his actions.© 2015 clayton_97 |
