Simplicity rules

Simplicity rules

A Poem by Kirk O'Dell
"

Everyone wants to be so profound..uuuhhh...have fun...

"

Lengthy and catchy, long-winded and cold

Turned around again and again back in the fold

They're always so smart, those kids that you like

If only they were told what's wrong and what's right

I venture out more just to find it in spare

That one liner that wipes away my blank stare

Elaborate and quite niffty these stories you tell

If only my attention could last to hear it well

Told, I was, that complex truths are there

Yet still I find only simplicity fare

If only they would amuse me, then they could see

That what truly I need is to find some good glee

I guess I won't find it, searching I've tried

I guess they can't be believed, they all must have lied

For it can't be believed what those little ones say

Not by night and certainly not by day

For in my great confusion of searching this quest

I have found that truly it is, I must be a guest

The world no not me and I know not it

Yet in my perfect dream I believe I fit

So tell me one more time

You know, that old rhyme

About a day I will find complex awnsers of mine

This must've been written after long episodes of reading tons of bad poetry on the homepage of this site, I imagine. It seems to be about people who try so hard to write complex, obscure poems, but they never tell a truth, and therefore entertain. I'm surprised there aren't more poems out there like this one. Good job, Kirk.
