The Red Lie

The Red Lie

A Poem by Kirasoul
"

This is a very touchy subject, but I feel the need to write.

"

You spoke of a sneaky lie,

For you disagreed with the truth back then.

I watched quietly as your words crept.

Your devious belief, I had to comprehend.

You told yet a second lie,

For you needed to hide the truth after that.

I watched quietly as your words spread.

My ignorance a mistake, one I forever regret.

You started weaving a red flag of lies,

For you must replace the truth that we accept.

I watched quietly as your words bled.

Power of majority, people starting to forget.

Now you force me to your infamous lie,

For you know that I am the last speaker of the rest.

I watched quietly as the world shed,

A new truth born, the old truth dead.

Author's Note

Kirasoul
This is a touchy subject, but I feel the need to write.
The Animal Barn and 1984 are both wonderful works that describe the birth and power of Communism belief, both written by George Orwell. He displays within how overly-efficient a lie can be when infecting an empty-hearted majority by practices of control and brainwashing. This poem is written in a much simpler way, as I am a writer and not a politician. Please understand that I hold no political intones within my writing; I instead wish to teach you as my reader to open your eyes of wondering and learn to think for yourselves before blindly taking in any fact that is thrown your way, be it social media or street trend.
Always question, and always ask.

Please comment! Compliments and criticism are the best gifts a writer can receive :)

Interesting take on the topic. I especially like the line "I watched quietly as your words bled".

We might all have fav lines in our own writings. ;)
This is really powerful! The regret of the speaker for not resisting perhaps as much as they should have is palpable, and it really shows the sadness brought by communism.

I really like this!
