L and S: Fire

L and S: Fire

A Poem by Kirasoul
"

A short poem written by me two years ago. Enjoy!

"

The cold town I live in:

Full of heartless souls of society lost

The walking dead that fills this metropolis.

They have nothing to lose; they have nothing to gain.

They carry out others’ will through the hollowness that fills the sky

This is the town I live in.

What I know.

I cannot be like them, I have a heart.

I have a flame that blazes too strong for the skyscrapers to hold

Many sins and promises sealed within the inferno within

I was born to purify the darkness from my loves’ shadow

From these eyes I see the world

One world where nothing can eternally exist and rule

One world where restrictions and chains lie dead on the floor

Were we born not to overpower gravity? Were we destined not to shatter the sky?

Why heed the laws inscribed by our pasts?

“But L, not every one of us is like you,

Our past points us the future, and our road is to obey.

We are not as strong as you, we rely on others to guide.

Your Path of Light is not one we can stand upon.”

Eighteen years I strife in rebellion.

Rewriting paths, eight hearts purified from this darnation.

As the world moans on, the flames of hope burn on with their steps.

Burning, shining, spreading the warmth to the rest of this city.

I have seen too much sorrow to bow to Fate

I have altered too many stories to return to light

Every step of my remaining life ignites the revolution of change

And the Fire shall burn on.

I really like how this piece seems almost mournful at first but then builds and ends with a defiant resolution to keep the fire of revolution burning. Just a heads up on a couple things: there is a quotation mark in the second line that I'm not sure is supposed to be there? And in the third line of the fourth stanza, you may want to add "as" before the word "strong" as well so it reads "we are not as strong as you." I enjoyed this one. Nice job!

I don't believe in fate. One new step and our fate is changed. I liked the above lines. A strong fire cannot be out out. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
