safe and sorry.

safe and sorry.

A Story by kinza adil

so you know how, both metaphorically and literally speaking, we tend to always follow the path that shows signs that it has been previously travelled on?

say for example a career choice, or how when we drive off-road, we tend to follow any tyre tracks we find - because we assume that if another car has made it through that patch of sand without getting stuck, we can too.

it’s human nature, sticking with the nearest possible crowd when we feel alone, and taking the ”safest” most comfortable and “known” way to do something or reach somewhere. but what we almost never give thought to is the possibility that maybe the track that we are following led its previous travellers to trouble. what if the other guy who earned a management degree like i am planning to now, ended up a jobless hobo? or what if the other car got stuck a mile down the track that now i am taking?

in our quest for comfort and familiarity we forget that the road less traveled could indeed be more promising and way better than the one crowded with the rest of the world. it could be more adventurous, and the lack of people travelling by our side could mean we get more opportunities and resources all to ourselves.

to quote Paulo Coelho quoting Robert Frost -

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”

be safe or be smart. the choice is yours.

overall i like the story. good meaning behind it, i feel it needs more, such as something about how mankind has been taking the same path for years and how nothing is changing and the world is declining, or how big names like franklin, or tesla didn't follow the beaten path but helped carve a new one. or in terms of revolution such as the american revolution in comparison to the opression of the irish people how we could have been oppressed bad as them but people like sam adams wouldn't stand for it and raised the sons of liberty to revolution.

but besides how i feel it needs more, which i could be wrong and short and sweet may be the way to go, there are some other issues. one of the largest i see is the lack of capitolizing letters at the start of a fresh sentence. that is just unappealing to the eyes (as you probably can tell by this whole passage, but don't do as i do, do better) and people will be less willing to read it. finally, the word tire in your second passage is currently spelled tyre.

but really i enjoy what you are saying here and it could be great with a little editing. would be a great artical in a school paper where a mass of people may see, learn, and apply to the world and change the worlds direction to a road less traveled.
