I Am Your ADHD

I Am Your ADHD

A Poem by Eric J. Kingsepp

I am the hook and the twitch on the line.

I am the glitch that rewrites all your code.

I am the fog that seeps around your brain.

I am your pain at each fork in the road.

I am the hand that raises you aloft

And shows you all the kingdoms of the world,

And lets you down to start, and snaps you back

Leaving another great idea deferred.

I am the force between two negatives,

between intentions and unfinished tasks,

between ideas in mind and in the world,

between answers and questions never asked.

I am a splinter from your broken plans,

Reminding you of all you haven’t built.

I am the voice of all that you neglect,

of greener grass in other fields, of guilt.

I am a gift, a curse (you can't decide),

Creative drive that turns to sand and air

Upon the base of everything you build.

Look on my works, distracted, and despair!
