leaving and livening

leaving and livening

A Poem by Eric J. Kingsepp
"

First appeared in "Dappled Things", Lent/Easter 2008.

"

take the spring
take outward things
showing off their new-found greens

take the summer
heat and sun
overgarbed in light-streaked clouds

a pretty maid, but growing still
with much potential left to fill

leave me autumn
brisk and strong
yielding leaves of brilliant red

leave me winter
leave me wind
though nature look like she is dead

for every outward death she dies
makes her, inside, the more alive
