A Poem by Deos Fortioribus Adesse

We spoke only last week,
how am I being told the sun will no longer rise for you?
I only pray that you heard the angels sing you a lullaby.

We spoke only last week,
how do I not remember the sound of your voice?
Has time already leeched at my memories of you?

Since we last spoke I’ve spent my nights talking to the stars,
I’ve been told they are proof of the afterlife,
Did God want you closer to Him?
