Drunk Man's Story

Drunk Man's Story

A Poem by Zdravko Nunev

The light of the lamp is dim.
The floor is bed for a bottle of gin.
One hand grasps the gun, the other the glass,
"Don't worry, it will get better", yeah, sure, my a*s...
My eyes are watery, my story is done,
Hope was once given, isn't it fun
That you all prefer the lie of the good
Instead of worrying that you're living food...
Be it for worms, or for sorrow, or sin-
I'd rather be eaten by whiskey and gin!
But I no longer worry for I have my gun
And the beams that just set were my last sight of sun.
But before my finger trembles and I finish the book
Let me tell you the chapters and the actions I took.
At first it was friendship, then became love,
Then we gained fortune, we thanked God above,
But heaven was shaken and it started to rain,
We learned the lessons of swimming in pain.
You found the ladder out of the pool,
But it was for one, so I learned the word cruel.
Since it was wet the foundations went crumbling,
A big hole was opened and I started considering
Tearing some pages and starting again,
But it was impossible I was filled with shame.
The following chapter you can see well.
I locked myself up, the full bottle fell...
The armed arm is moving, in Hell I will burn...
This is it. My second book's author will be the worm.
