My family and I just moved into a new home on the Appalachian Mountains. The house was beautiful; it was a two-story brick colonial. It has been about a month now since we moved into the house until something horrifying happened one night. On the 32nd day around 9:30 p.m., dad left for work for his night shift as a police officer. My mom, my sister, Thelma, my brother, Hugo, and I were all asleep around 11:30 p.m. when we heard someone knocking loudly on our front door.
Assuming that it was my dad who might have forgot something back at home; my mom descended down the stairs, followed by Thelma, Hugo, and me, and answered the door asking who it was.
All of us jumped when we heard a rasping, low, evil, and even a somewhat demonic voice answered, “I need my medicine!”
My mom hesitated wondering if she should open the door for whoever it was on the other side. All of us stood still like a bunch of frozen statues.
“I need my medicine! Let me take my medicine!” shouted the evil voice.
I suddenly took a brave step toward the small window beside the front door for my mom since I was older than my two siblings and I looked outside. What I saw made me shiver and my breath escaped from my lungs and throat.
A seven foot tall, blood red creature with sharp horns on top of its large head and a snout like a wolf’s and with sharp claws was standing on the front stoop of our house. Sensing my presence, the creature slowly turned its head toward me and I saw its blood red eyes shining right at me. The creature then gave me a horrible grin which it showed me all of its sharp yellow teeth and slobber dripped and foamed from its disgusting mouth. I could literally smell the foul odor of something that died in its mouth.
Scared to death, I quickly pulled away from the small window and whispered loudly, “Mom, don’t let that thing in!”
“Go away! You are not welcome here!” my mom told the creature on the other side of the door.
“I need my medicine!” the creature screamed. About a minute later, we heard the creature screaming from the back of the house. Suddenly, the whole house started shaking. Thelma and Hugo screamed and clung to my mom’s side. We heard the vase on top of the mantelpiece fall and shatter to pieces on the ground with a loud CRASH! The shaking halted after about a few minutes and all was quiet and calm.
“Is it gone?” Thelma whispered. Thelma got her answer when we heard a shrill scream and a crashing sound of broken glass. I peeked around the corner and my breath stopped in mid air. The creature had broken through the window of our house and was crouching in the middle of the floor of the family room.
“Run out the door! Go! Go!” I yelled. Mom opened the door and we quickly ran out the door, down the front steps and through the front lawn which was thickly forested. My mom, Thelma, and Hugo were ahead of me and I could here the demonic creature panting in a run behind me. Suddenly, I felt something tackle me and I fell face first in a pile of leaves. I rolled over on my back, knocking the thing that tackled me over, and came face to face to the demonic creature.
The creature grinned, showing all of its yellow sharp teeth and spat out, “I finally have my medicine!”
The creature howled and was about to rip my face off until I heard my mom shout, “For the love of God, please leave us at peace!” Then, suddenly, the demonic creature disappeared in a puff of smoke. When my dad came home the next morning, my mom told my dad about last night’s events. My dad amazingly believed my mom’s story. We packed up and moved down to Roanoke, Virginia. My dad was going to sell our house up in the Appalachian Mountains, but my mom convinced my dad not to sell the house because she hated for the next family to go through the hell that we went through with the demonic creature. So, the house hasn’t been sold and we know live happily and peacefully in Roanoke.
