GOD SHINES OUT

GOD SHINES OUT

A Poem by Bill Grimke-Drayton
"

The agnostic's hopeless search for meaning in an apparently meaningless universe. The temptation to reject belief in the divine is very great.

"

God shines out in light inaccessible,

testing blind faith with

incomprehension, and reason

laughs at the foolish pursuit.

I yearn for order and purpose,

but know such futility is real, back off

with hands empty from despair.

The divine face, if it be so,

hides behind the facade of

a perpetual conundrum,

wrapped up but may

never be opened.
