BETRAYAL

BETRAYAL

A Poem by Bill Grimke-Drayton
"

There is nothing more disheartening than a partner, who without any prior warning leaves you.

"

I woke up and you,

my dissembling one,

gone, no trace

to pick up,

follow, lingered in

absent presence, hoping

I was at last mistaken,

but cast-iron reality,

wedged

in nook and cranny

of a shrunken existence,

dissected

by your express design,

planned in secret

before trusting eyes,

and now I dream

in empty thoughts

of spurned love,

 awake,

and not wanting to be.

This is beautiful, well-written poem. I particularly enjoyed how you set up your stanzas. I needed to read something like this because I am going through something similar, so thank you.

Would you mind reviewing my poems?
