OUR LOVE

OUR LOVE

A Poem by KWatts

Squeaking swings

Pea gravel under my feet

Timber painted red

The sounds and smells

Of this long lost place

Comfort me

The joys of youth

The memories made

This is where I first saw your face

We played Hi ho Cherry O

And guess who

Back then I never thought I would be her with you

Life made us stranger’s worlds apart

She sent you to a desert

And made me a mother with a broken heart

Dreams shattered and life’s paths changed

Till one day we were a click away

We started talking and next thing we knew

Your homesickness finally grew

You went out into the world

I stayed here at home

Only to learn that our true love was someone we once new

Grade school friends strangers now lovers

Our love story is our own and no others
