The Day My Momma Left

The Day My Momma Left

A Poem by Kimiko Arya
"

A little bpy remembers the day his mother left, and how he's still waiting even now, for her to come home.

"

I remember the day

When Momma went away

The morning dawned cold and grey,

Clouds hung low, full of rain

As I watched my momma

Drive away.

I begged her

"Please don't go..."

But whatever her reasons were

She had to leave, she told me so.

"Baby boy, please don't cry,

Someday I will come home.

Stay here and please don't try

Looking for me; someday I will come home."

I sat on my window sill,

Tears dripping down my face,

As I watched my momma get in her car

And drive away.

Days went by,

They turned into weeks

And still on that sill I waited,

For my momma to keep her promise.

I waited to see her silver car drive up

And to hear her say,

"I'm home."
