final destinationA Poem by woodennymphas the moon dawns upon the eerie quiet the darkess broken only by its face the winds still and calm and silent the earth taken hostage in slumber's depth i creep slowly into the night my steps muffled with the crimson pools leaving behind scarlet traces of presence mixed with painful mourns and tears i struggle to breathe as i shuffled and searched for a friendly light i held my weapon fiercely against my chest moving freely with the beating of my heart i stumble and the floorboards squeak but i move on nontheless like a thief into the darkest hours stealing away into the great unknown at last i reach my destination and i call out your name with all my might and you rushed to my side as you saw me tears flowing freely from your eyes i just needed you to hold me and see me one last time i just needed the sweet sweet words you speak feel the throbbing of your heart against mine i longed so much for this wondrous moment and as seconds ticked away the time strength escaped my very being taken away by the tide you held me in the warmth of your embrace and there in the comfort of your arms, i dropped down on my knees and closed my eyes, taking in that one last breath of you, hearing you whisper my name, i love you, as i lay on my final rest at last. © 2008 woodennymphAuthor's Note
