Coffee or You?A Poem by Kim Jimenez"You know how I hate this kind of coffee, but I’m drinking it because I miss you."I'm here again, In this old cafe, Sitting near the window
pane, Where we spent time everyday;
I ordered the same black
coffee, You used to order back then; Those times I thought I was happy, Now, I can't even remember when;
Took a sip to taste
it, But burned my tongue; Should've think before tasting it, Maybe I won't get stung;
As I take few more sips, My tongue adapts to the pain; As the pain skips, Relaxation begins to gain;
Well that’s worth the risk, Even though it hurt me; I didn’t regret moving in
whisk, To gain enjoyment of this coffee; In this black coffee, There's this strong bitterness; Bitterness that I never foresee, Which blocks the coffee's goodness;
But as I
drink more, There's some hidden sweetness, Where the bitterness could be
ignore, Blending coffee's
completeness;
That sweetness makes you continue, Craving for more; If I only knew, How it'd made my heart sore;
I don’t
know what’s wrong with me? Is it really the coffee or you? You know how I hate this kind
of coffee, But still drinking it when I
miss you; We moved so haste, That our love's filled with bitterness; But the memories never a waste, Because there's hidden sweetness.
As I continue enjoying this
cup, Coffee stained upon my shirt; I tried hard to clean it up, Is it possible to revert?
Coffee or you, Maybe it meant to leave a stain; To reminisce those days I had
with you, Because like this coffee you’re worth the pain. © 2020 Kim JimenezReviews
