Proper & PoisedA Poem by SaraMy grandparents are very old fashioned and I by no means am an exception to their ridiculously high standards, so this one is for my granny
Proper in meaning but lacking in poise
Separates little girls from little boys Polite in their manners, but lacking in shame It's such a tedious game Never should you skip or sing You should always say the prettiest thing Now that they have you walking and talking You need to learn how to dress And fix your hair that's apparently a mess Bows and ribbons Ribbons and strings These are a few of my least favorite things So as you sit here And read in wonder Know that these are things my grandparents ponder For I wear all black And do my hair as I please I blow my nose after I sneeze My manners are always quite profound Now I will scream, for these rules I don't wish to be around © 2010 Sara |
