The Forbidden Fruit

The Forbidden Fruit

A Poem by kij143

The sweetest of dreams linger much longer,

than the thoughts in my head, which fail to be stronger.

As it falters, it fades, and slowly slips away...

but the dreams I dare dream, forever will stay.

And yet continue to smolder, till the heat causes pain.

And yet..the cold I can't bear, so I suffer in vain.

To the guiltiest of pleasures I conceed, too weak to resist.

Not for all the tears that I've tasted,

nor the lips that I've kissed.

My dreams consume and I've lost the will to fight...

As I stare at the forbidden fruit,

and take my first bite. ♥

Some forbidden fruit can't be missed. I like the story and the very good ending to your poem. After the first bite. Hard to come back to what we were. A excellent poem.
