For Today's Sake

For Today's Sake

A Poem by Kieran James McGovern

Eyes closed and crusted over

The coming to

The moon rolled across the night sky

Capsizing the horizon

That the sun is now hung over

The move from unconsciousness into a world

Of bittersweet

Crimson-coalescence

Tepidly synthesized symphony

Saccharine backdrops

Elegy’s melody

The break from nature’s syncope

Waking with energy

Weekend’s dream

Forgettable memories

That might’ve made me want to get up

And start the day

But I was too tired and the tune too redundant

Faith kid, no song plays forever
