Judgement

Judgement

A Poem by Kieran James McGovern

To look upon everyone

With judgment in your eye

Is to enter your damnation

And to come to love a lie

The contrast that you there invoke

Superficial, lame

Till you’re choking on the words you spoke

‘Cause you are just the same

Or even worse, deceived and cursed

Your hateful words are well-rehearsed

Oh, illuminated one

Shine brighter, burn up in the sun

Damned you don’t, damned you do

Your hatred burns a hole through you

And everyone you castigate

Will play a role in your fate

So look upon nothing, no one

With ideas preconceived

Of a right way to look, think, speak

Behave or believe

Not sure there is heaven

But there is a hell on earth

Where the “first shall be last

And the last shall be first”
